Michael Hogg
Michael Hogg is professor of social psychology at Claremont Graduate University. He is also an honorary professor of psychology at the University of Kent and the University of Queensland. He is a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science, the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues, the Society of Experimental Social Psychology, the Western Psychological Association, and the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia. He is editor with Dominic Abrams of the journal Group Processes and Intergroup Relations (http://gpir.sagepub.com/), and a former associate editor of the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology. He is a member of the executive committee of the Society of Experimental Social Psychology (vice-president in 2012 and president in 2013) and was the 2010 recipient of the Carol and Ed Diener Award in Social Psychology from the Society for Personality and Social Psychology.
His research is on self-conception, social identity, group processes, and intergroup relations. Specific programs focus on (1) uncertainty management, group identification, entitativity, and extremism; (2) leadership and social identity; and (3) influence, norms and attitude-behavior relations.
